Apart from the Redmi Note 10, Xiaomi also presents the Redmi Note 10 Pro as a middle-class cellphone. Comes with a Super AMOLED screen, which means that the phone is the first Redmi Note series to be equipped with this cutting-edge screen technology. In addition, Redmi Note 10 also carries a high refresh rate so that the image on the screen looks smoother. From the camera side, Xiaomi armed it with a resolution of 108 MP. Here are the results of my review.

Even though Xiaomi presents the Redmi Note 10 Pro for the middle class, this phone has the feel of a flagship class. This is due to the body which carries frosted glass material. For information, this type of material is also present in Xiaomi’s flagship class phones, namely Mi 11. Unfortunately, the body of the frosted glass model will feel slippery on the wrist. To overcome this, you can use the softcase to reduce slipperiness.

The Super AMOLED screen on the Redmi Note 10 Pro has a size of 6.67 inches with an aspect ratio of 20: 9. For the front camera, there is a notch which Xiaomi calls DotDisplay in the center area. One of the conveniences provided by the screen is high brightness up to 1200 nits. This allows me to see it more easily outside the room, including the ease when making compositions when shooting landscapes or other.

It doesn’t stop at the high brightness level, the middle-class Redmi Note 10 Pro screen is also superior with a 120 Hz refresh rate. This can minimize motion blur when you are playing games or watching movies with fast scenes. The bezel on the four sides of the screen doesn’t look too thick.

Just like its brother, Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 10 Pro also comes with a fingerprint sensor integrated with the power button. This button is located on the right side in line with the volume buttons. The bottom side is a microphone, USB-C port, and speakers. Moving up, there is an infrared transmitter, microphone, speakers, and a 3.5mm audio port.

There is a pair of speakers on the Redmi Note 10 Pro. This means that this phone provides a stereo effect. This allows for a more enjoyable experience when watching videos and playing games.

Xiaomi designed the cellphone body with a size of 164 x 76.5 x 8.1 mm with IP53 certification. Thus, the Redmi Note 10 Pro can withstand dust and splashes of water. The rear camera module looks rectangular in a relatively balanced arrangement.

This module is somewhat more prominent than the Redmi Note 10 camera module. The four rear cameras accompany the 108 MP main camera, 8 MP ultra wide lens camera, 5 MP macro camera and 2 MP depth sensor camera.

Camera

Testing begins with the performance of the main camera. The Redmi Note 10 excels in terms of details, as the leaves on the trees that are quite far away still show their texture. For auto exposure, the main camera on this phone looks very good for the middle class segment. Although the color of the leaves at the top of the frame looks less bright, the overall color looks natural, including the area between the trunks of the tree to the left of the lake.

If when photographing a subject that is backlit shows underexposed results, then you must activate High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode. Using this mode, the results are very good. The coconut tree with its back to the sun is still clearly visible. The yellow coconut fruit is very clear even at the smallest size. There are no under-exposure disturbances on each blade. In addition, parts of the sky are preserved without displaying excessive light.

When shooting using an ultra-wide camera, colors are a bit distracted by over saturation. The color of the leaves, which should be green, should be slightly yellowish. Some areas that should be light appear to be slightly disturbed by dark colors, for example in the areas between the leaves. However, you don’t need to worry about using a wide lens camera. The reason is, as a whole it produces good exposure and clear details.

The rear camera of the Redmi Note 10 Pro was also tested when shooting indoors, with some lighting at the edges. No disturbing noise is too distracting, including in dark areas. However, some objects in the distance looked less sharp. Overall, the results are good, with accurate colors and white balance. There is also no distraction of overexposure on restaurant menus.

Macro camera performance offers excellent color and high sharpness. The gradation on the yellowish green leaves looks smooth. However, the AF performance is less accurate for this camera. Thus, it is recommended that you activate the “Focus & shoot” function to make it easier to focus.

When shooting with the added bokeh effect behind the subject, the depth sensor camera is very reliable. It is capable of detecting between subject and background quickly so that there are no distractions at the edges of the subject. You can change the bokeh effect from f / 1.0 to f / 16 before or after taking a picture.

The artificial intelligence or AI in the Redmi Note 10 Pro is fast and accurate to detect the object being photographed. Once detected, there is a small icon on the edge of the frame to adjust the color and so on so that the photo looks more optimal.

Now it’s time to test the front camera. the results of this camera are very good with bright colors and pretty good exposure. You can also shoot with a bokeh effect in the background using Portrait mode.

No need to worry if you have to take pictures of the night with only roadside lights. The reason is, the night mode of the Redmi Note 10 Pro produces bright colors even in areas that are not exposed to street lights. This can be seen in the color of the leaves. Apart from the bright color, the texture of the leaves is also visible. In fact, the clouds in the sky are also clearly visible. Even though there is noise interference, this is still in a natural state.

The video stabilization in Redmi Note 10 is reliable. This phone can reduce my hand shake well. In addition, when the asphalt road being traversed is uneven, stabilization is maintained without any jitter disturbances.

Performance

After seeing the performance of the Redmi Note 9 Pro camera, now is the time to test the performance of this cellphone. The processor it uses is Snapdragon 732G. The review unit that I hold here has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In terms of software, this phone runs on the Android 11 operating system with the MIUI 12 interface.

In the 3DMark test, the cellphone won 3,799 points and 3,814 points respectively for Sling Shot and Sling Shot Unlimited. As an illustration, I have also included the results of the Redmi Note 9 Pro cellphone. This phone comes with 3,523 points and 3,637 points respectively for the same test.

After undergoing 3DMark, the Redmi Note 10 Pro was tested using the PCMark 2.0 application. This test tries how superior the cellphone is when used for daily activities. The overall score of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is 8,305 points. This has a quite high increase considering that the Redmi Note 9 Pro only has a number of 7,615 points.

Previously it was explained that the Redmi Note 10 Pro review unit in my hand has a storage capacity of 128 GB. In order to know the speed performance, I use the PCMark Storage application. The total result is 11,580 points.

When using Redmi Note 10 Pro to play PUBG Mobile games, the default graphics setting is HD with a High frame rate setting. This phone provides a smooth PUBG Mobile experience. Considering this is a mid-sized phone, so I can say it performs well in those heavy games. After playing for about 1 hour, I noticed some drop in frame rate. However, this is still in the normal stage.

Battery

I took the time to record the battery usage for each need. First is playing PUBG Mobile. The duration of 30 minutes of playing the game will use up battery energy by 5%. For 1 hour of gaming, the Redmi Note 10 Pro requires 12% power. The battery capacity of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is 5,020 mAh.

Nowadays watching online has become a habit for many people. Therefore I also tested this cellphone battery while watching a streaming movie. During 30 minutes of watching, the battery reduction is 4%. For 1 hour of watching streaming, the battery used is 7%.

The battery performance that I tested next was to use the Redmi Note 10 Pro to record videos. This phone requires 8% battery charge to record for 30 minutes. For the recording duration of 1 hour, it consumes 16% battery capacity.

After knowing the battery usage when recording video, I now use the Redmi Note 10 Pro to record in time-lapse mode. With 30x speed, this phone consumes 6% battery for 30 minutes of recording. On the other hand, the cellphone will consume 14% of the power for 1 hour of time-lapse use.

Conclusion

After reviewing it, I can say that the performance of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is quite good for the middle class. Apart from that, with its elegant design and high-quality screen, this phone stands out from its competitors in the same class.

From the camera side, the advantage is that there is a high resolution and a configuration of 4 cameras that can be used for various purposes. You can rely on the camera when photographing backlit subjects, night conditions, and so on.
